The long flight home

We sent Jean off earlier today. Her flight left at 1:15 p.m. HK Currently she should be in Seoul, Korea for her layover and around 9 OR 10 p.m. she should be headed for the long haul from Seoul to Chicago. She had a blast & is going home not only with some pretty & different souveniers, but great memories.
ON a more interesting note, while we are here I thought I would take in some of the culture and signed up for 4 lessons on the "Guzheng". It is a traditional Chinese instrument. 4 lessons for $420 HK which makes out to be $54 dollars. So Tj & I thought that would be a unique opportunity. Well of course the receptionist at the music store spoke very little English & I have only picked up a few necessary phrases, Thank you, Good Morning, Hello, Daughter, Where is the hand washing room? etc. So through a lot of gestures, pointing etc. I managed to convey I wanted to take a class. I took my first one yesterday. Very different. Anyway, meanwhile she was pointing to one of the Guzheng & I was saying "For practice?" Yes yes... whatever she was pointing to price etc. so what I figured was for $1240 I could rent a "Guzheng" to practice on. That made out to be $161 US so I thought well that sounds about right for a rental, OK. Then as I was leaving after my lesson, she is telling me "wait 10 day" and pointing etc. & I can come in & practice there. So I'm walking home and thinking, well that's not going to be worth it if I have to wait 10 days for the rental I will be paying to use it for only about 11 or so days.
So I called Scott & said can you please call the music store & if I am going to have to wait 10 days, I don't need the rental I can just go in every day & practice there...
He calls back and says "you have bought the instrument" So then it's a whole long messy story.. with frequent calls back & forth. & to make a long story short, when we took Jean to the Airport we asked around to see if it would be possible to fly home with it... and basically we will be able to bring home a Guzheng for $30HK (less than $4 dollars US.) So that's the story, in a nutshell.
Pray for Jean's safety back home

Dear Mica
My mom and I were looking at your pictures. I really like the ones of the monkeys. I think the picture of Ariella eating is funny. What kind of food have you tried? What kind of animals have you seen? What are the kids like in Hong Kong? Do you eat with chopsticks? I missed you on the 4th! I watched the big fireworks with Jason, Jerrilynn, Matt, and Zack. They made a really BIG BOOM !!! My cat had 3 kittens! Do you want one? Jason was on a moped with Bud (he didn't ask my mom if it was okay) His leg got burnt on the engine and today ( Wednesday) my Dad took him to the emergency room because it really hurt and looked yucky!! Will you please pray for Jason? We are leaving on vacation July 9th for Virginia and Myrtle Beach. We will be gone two weeks I will write you again. I miss you Can you please write back. I am praying for you Love Justin

DeAR Justin,
I 've got a very good letter, um there is a park here with a rock path, that you are suppose to take your shoes off and walk on. I can walk all around it but it hurts my mom & dad's feet. Almost everyone speaks English. I have made some new friends here, my new friend's name is Jasmine, I really love her but I'm not going to marry her. And don't worry you are still my good friend. And I'm just going to marry Jarica. There is lots of things to do here and there are some words that are different than your words. I like the Chinese words. The food is soo different and so kind of wierd. I like the soybean milk here. and everything is different.
Thanks for writing me.
Love Micah
