Here is what is going on in Hong Kong in the past month.Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus,
What a joy to share that Charity Sebastian was baptized, Sunday, May 7. Charity has been in the church off and on for maybe 10-12 years. She became involved with our evangelistic Bible study years ago, but left the church and joined a cult. Within the last year she has returned to the church, having come to a conviction about her error and realizing that we faithfully teach God’s truth. It was a great joy in seeing her commitment and hearing her testimony before her baptism.
The DIT training visas were denied by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. However, the supervisor said that we could have them come on a two-week visitor basis, which they did on April 20. On May 3, they got an extension from the Immigration Department. Wednesday, May 17, Winnie Cheng and Joyce Law will take them across the border to China. Having exited Hong Kong, we expect that they will be able to once again get a two-week visa the same day. Thus we expect to basically finish the DIT training. It will be cut short about 4 days from what would have been given if the training visas had been granted, yet the training is going very well. Praise God! Thank you for your prayers for this vital ministry.
There has been significant spiritual warfare during this training. Personal attacks health-wise or family-wise have come on three of the four trainees. This is not at all surprising to me. One of the men was having pain in his leg before coming. After his arrival, the pain got severe. An x-ray showed a major disk dislocation in his lower back severe enough that he was told he should be in a wheel chair. He started therapy immediately with Wilson Tsang with the result that the pain was gone in the first two treatments and now the disk is being slowly manipulated back into place. Wilson is doing three treatments a week in the afternoons, so that it doesn’t interfere with the Bible study classes in the morning. Wilson has had to make changes in his schedule to facilitate this. I praise the Lord for Wilson’s availability in this way. Please continue to pray that Wilson will commit his own life to the Lord. Please continue to petition our Lord that any additional unseen spiritual warfare, as well as that already experienced, may continue to bring glory to our Lord.
Please continue to pray for each of the DIT trainees: Solomon Perillo, Ariel Felices, Ronald Vegiga and Cody Ching. Cody and Ariel are university students. Ronald and Solomon are ministers. They have been a great team in learning, serving and teaching. Ariel and Cody will both be preaching for the first time. Pray for their learning during the rest of their time here and for their ministries upon their return home. The time we’ve spent together has been a great blessing! I am in no way disappointed in the four brothers who came for this. The last two to three years since the DIT and IBS ministries have started have been the most fulfilling years of my 37+ years of ministry.
This newsletter is 10 days late this month. I’ve been very busy with DIT. Furthermore, both Linda and I have had major computer problems at the same time. Linda’s computer crashed necessitating the replacement of the hard disk. Most of her material was saved, except for her pictures and kindergarten teaching materials for the coming fall that she has spent many hours preparing recently. Praise the Lord she had a hard copy of the kindergarten materials. We were able to rescue and get my laptop repaired before it got that serious. May we rejoice and grow in all the trials that we encounter knowing that God’s purpose can be accomplished therein.
