An Explanation

Good Morning,
I thought since I created this blog for one purpose (to let you know about our Mission trip) I should include some basic info:

We are very excited to say that the Waters family will be going to Hong Kong for a five-week mission trip this summer. We are excited at the prospect of seeing the hand of God at work globally on a first hand basis. We want our kids to know and see that there is life outside of the comforts of America. Micah will be starting Kindergarten this fall so the time is right.
We will be working with Ken and Linda Smith who have been serving in Hong Kong for over 35 years. They both are graduates of Platte Valley Bible College (Scottsbluff, NE) and went to school with Barbie’s parents, so she has known of them and their work all her life. They began and serve with Fairview Park Christian Church in Hong Kong. Most of their ministry consists of disciplining, training and equipping their members and non-Christians by way of preaching, teaching and mentoring. Only 10% of the population knows Jesus, though the rest claim local ethnic religions, the main god in Hong Kong is money. As we in American know quite well, money is a hard master that gives hollow happiness, frustration and hopelessness.
Ken & Lynda will be returning to the U.S. on furlough June 25th and would like us to arrive in H.K. the week before to orient us to the people, area, and church. They are excited that we are willing to help teach, lead bible studies, help preach and possibly offer something for kids (they currently have no programs at all for kids due to inadequate space and availability of helpers). While we are in Hong Kong we will be working under their son Scott who just arrived back in Hong Kong with his wife Evelyn and their 2 daughters.
The church is made up of roughly 35% Chinese, 45% Filipinos and the remainder Americans, Burmese and Columbian. T.j will be able to preach and teach without a language barrier as English is a dominate language there, he will be leading bible studies almost every evening as well as helping out with Sunday services. Barbie will be helping Olivia Cheung who is the coordinator of their music ministry as well as assisting a Columbian lady in their congregation in an English or Spanish Bible study as well as getting involved and helping with a Spanish class that she teaches in the church.
